TiGLON Magnesium RCA Plugs and Accessories

The properties of magnesium have been proven over the years, through use in aerospace, auto racing, and for audio in headshells and tonearms.  TiGLON takes advantage of magnesium’s structural rigidity, shielding and damping characteristics, and applies it to RCA plugs, tuning devices and complete tuning systems.

Tiglon’s RCA plugs are central to the “TiGLON Sound”.  These RCA plugs provide tranquil sound, along with maximum information, not heard in ordinary undamped gold-plated brass plugs.  They combine top quality materials for a plug that damps vibrations and blocks EMI/RFI.  The outer locking-collet is machined from magnesium, providing exceptional damping and shielding.  The center pin is rhodium plated brass, and is split to allow the RCA plug to conform to virtually all female RCA jacks, without the use of force.  The termination method is by screw.  The maximum cable diameter is 9mm.  The external/outer diameter, is 13.6mm, and the overall length is 50.4mm.  The connectors are compatible with most cables being produced, with a maximum cable diameter of 9mm.

TMX series (M1, M2 + Cup Set)

The TMX isolation set is a comprehensive approach to blocking the transmission of vibration, while at the same time providing solid coupling for devices that need to be held firmly in one position.  Particularly with speakers and heavy amplifiers, it is important that they have a solid footing, but this raises the issue of vibration transmission.  The M1 and M2 combine to offer excellent damping of vibration, while the wooden cup supports the M1 Cup and M2 Spike during installation and use.  Further, the wood also acts to absorb vibration. The recommended maximum load for one cut set is 20Kg.  The outside diameter of the assembly is 48mm, and the height is 30mm.  The weight for one 3-piece set is 48 grams.

M1 Magnesium Cup

The M1 Magnesium Cup can be used with other spikes, but was designed with the M2 Magnesium Spike in mind.  The cup is machined from magnesium and painted.  Because of the ability of magnesium to convert vibration into heat, vibration is blocked.  By channeling the vibration into a tiny area, some vibrations are forced to cancel out before reaching the cup.  When combined with the M2 and wooden holder, the M1 is a premium damping device.  When used with other such products, it will make them more effective because of the excellent acoustic properties of Magnesium.  

The diameter of the M1 is 33mm.  The thickness is 10mm.  The weight is 14 grams.  It is recommended that you keep the weight under 20kg per cup.  

M2 Magnesium Spike

The M2 Magnesium Spike can be used with other cups, or in direct contact with wood or other hard surface, but was designed with the M1 Magnesium Cup in mind.  The spike is machined from magnesium and painted.  Because of the ability of magnesium to convert vibration into heat, vibration is blocked.  By channeling the vibration into a tiny area, some vibrations are forced to cancel out before reaching the cup.  When combined with the M1  and the wooden holder, the M2 is a premium damping device.  When used with other such products, it will make them more effective because of the excellent acoustic properties of Magnesium.  

The diameter of the M2 is 33mm.  The thickness is 10mm.  The weight is 16 grams.  It is recommended that you keep the weight under 20kg per spike.

 Tuning Belt Products Not Currently Available

TiGLON Tuning Belts TB-15W & TB-25W

The TiGLON tuning belts, TB-15W and TB-25W, were designed with TiGLON magnesium accessories in mind.  The straps can be used with your existing shelves and isolation/coupling devices, or can be used as part of a complete system.  The TB-15W is suited for use with small speakers and speaker stands, and preferably with TiGLON Magnesium Accessories, the TMZ  spike/cup/holder combination.

The TB-25W tuning belt  is for medium size speakers and components, in combination with the TMX set, TiGLON racks, Tiglon speaker stands, or the Tiglon tuning board.

TB-15W is made of two 1500mm belts and two buckles.  The TB-25W is made of two 2500mm belts and two buckles.  Longer belts can be purchased at increments of 50mm.  Please contact us for a custom price, and to make sure the application is measured correctly.

TB-ST2 Belt Buckle

The TB-ST2 is available separately, or with the TB-15W and TB-25W, or as replacements.  The buckles are strong, but can be damaged.  Please do not use the tuning belts as handles.  The tuning belts and buckles are meant to excerpt constant pressure to damp vibrations, bot to aid in moving equipment.

Magnesium benefits used by TiGLON

The first, and most important characteristic for audio use is the damped nature of magnesium.  The magnesium usage by Tiglon centers around its ability to stop or damp vibration.  To show the relative merit of Mg, Tiglon prepared this chart showing the relative resonance levels in proper materials used in audio.

A secondary benefit for audio, one that has benefits just as important as damping, is the shielding ability of magnesium.  For RFI, magnesium is as effective as most competing metals, and due to its low mass, is used as a shield of choice in many high performance aerospace applications.  It is also effective against EMI, but not as much as traditional materials like copper.  Tiglon’s cables combine alternating layers of copper braid and magnesium ribbon to take advantage of the excellent damping and RFI shielding of magnesium, plus the excellent EMI shielding of copper.  It is the best of both worlds.  To show the shielding benefits of magnesium, Tiglon prepared this graph showing the relative merits of different shielding materials.
